How to Properly Transport a Chest Of Drawers in Your Vehicle
Moving a chest of drawers (especially if it is large) from one spot to another in your living room is no easy task. Transporting it in your vehicle is even more complicated. You need to make a few preparations to ensure that the move is as smooth and incident-free as possible. You can firmly tie a rope around the chest to make sure that the drawers do not fall out during the ride, but it is always better to remove all of them and cover each drawer in thick layers of newspaper to prevent nicks and scratches. Next, clear the area in your home that leads to the doorway. Make space in a small hallway by temporarily moving pieces of furniture. Make sure that the floor is not cluttered to prevent slips and falls. If you will be carrying the drawer down the stairs, have someone from below help you watch your steps.
Never attempt to carry a heavy piece of furniture by yourself even if you think you can handle it. Always ask for an extra hand. Once the furniture is placed inside the vehicle, avoid placing other things on top of the chest. It might move during the ride and cause unsightly scratches on the chest's surface. If possible, have one or two persons sit near the chest to make sure that it does not move around too much during the drive. With careful organisation and planning, transporting a chest of drawers does not have to be a gargantuan task.
