Throwing a Fun Cooking Party in Your Kitchen
If you and your closest friends have run out of fun things to do on a weekend, try something different - stay in the kitchen and have a fantastic cooking party! An afternoon in the kitchen spent cooking, sharing recipes, and exchanging stories with good friends is a great way to unwind on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon - especially in those few remaining hours before dinner.
The cooking party can have a theme - you might want to cook Mexican foods or maybe go for French cuisine. But whether you will have a theme or not, each guest should be assigned to work on a specific recipe to avoid having the same two (or even three!) dishes prepared at the event. Guests can come with their own ingredients or, if you are feeling generous and you have a lot of time, you can offer to buy and prepare all the ingredients yourself.
A few hours before the party, you need to get your kitchen ready. Make sure it is neat and organised. Put out and arrange ingredients and utensils in an orderly fashion. It is best to divide the kitchen into "stations" so that the traffic around your space does not get too chaotic when the guests arrive. You can either divide the kitchen space according to tasks or according to who will occupy which spot.
When the guests arrive, welcome each one with an apron. This helps them get into the mood and it is a great way to set the tone of the evening. Finally, you should also have some snacks ready for guests to nibble on while they cook their delicious meals!
